Christopher Nolan arrives in Mumbai for a 10-day schedule of Tenet

The Hollywood director arrived in the city on Friday morning for a 10-day schedule of his next, which features Michael Caine, Robert Pattinson and Dimple Kapadia, among others

Mirror had earlier reported (May 30) that after the 2017 Academy Awardwinning war-drama Dunkirk, Christopher Nolan’s next directorial, Tenet, will be shot in Mumbai mid-September. Set in the world of international espionage, it features Dimple Kapadia besides British veteran actor Michael Caine and Twilight breakout star Robert Pattinson, among others.
Now, right on schedule, the auteur has arrived in the Maximum City to kick-start the schedule. On Friday, around 7.30 am, Nolan was clicked by Mirror photographer while exiting the airport quietly. On his way out, he obliged a young fan with an autograph.
According to a source close to the development, the filmmaker has landed in Mumbai with his team, which includes some of the cast members, and began prepping for the 10-day schedule straightaway. On the team’s agenda are several action scenes, including a chase sequence, which were conceptualized well in advance. “The main sequences are expected to be filmed shortly. He will leave the city close to the month-end,” the source informed.
Nolan was in Mumbai last year for an event hosted by Film Heritage Foundation’s Shivendra Singh Dungarpur to promote the use, restoration and preservation of films. During his four-day stay, the filmmaker decided to shoot Tenet in the city, returning in February and April this year for recce with production designer Nathan Crowley and cinematographer Hoyte Van Hoytema.
While Mirror spotted a team creating a restaurant-like set-up close to a SoBo five-star on Friday, the crew at the location remained tight-lipped about the prep. The film went on the floors in July and will be shot across seven locations, including London and Italy. Soon after the kickoff, Dimple, dressed in allwhite, was spotted shooting with Nolan in Estonia.
The film is fronted by John David Washington and features Elizabeth Debicki, Aaron Taylor-Johnson and Clemence Poesy, besides Pattinson and Caine. The latter is reuniting with Nolan after The Prestige, Inception and The Dark Knight trilogy, in which Caine played Alfred Pennyworth, Bruce Wayne aka Batman’s trusted butler and confidant.
