Agents of SHIELD star Chloe Bennet has joined the cast of Metro-Goldwyn Meyer’s musical remake of Valley Girl, along with Logan Paul, Better Caul Saul‘s Jessie Ennis and Riverdale‘s Ashleigh Murray.
The cast additions join topliners Jessica Rothe and Josh Whitehouse. Rachel Lee Goldenberg helms the project, that is written by Amy Lee Talkington, with revisions by Marti Noxon. Filming is slated to begin in Los Angeles next month. Producing the film is Matt Smith with Cassidy Lange overseeing on behalf of the studio.
The film is a remake of the 1983 original which is as described as follows:
Julie, who’s played by Rothe, is a sweet-natured San Fernando Valley girl whose world and values are rocked when she falls hard for Randy, played Whitehouse, a punk rocker from Hollywood.
Agents Of SHIELD alum Bennet, will play Karen, a Queen bee, Valley girl who’s obsessed with status and overcompensates for her lack of charisma by ruling the school with an iron fist.
Paul, from YouTube’s Foursome and The Thinning fame, plays Mickey a preppy, popular, tennis star and Julie’s boyfriend.
Ennis, will co-star as Stacey, Julie’s loyal best friend since childhood who dresses and talks like a Valley Girl, but is an anxious straight A-student who feels insecure in the popular crowd.
Murray, who plays Josie, one of the key members of the Pussycats on CW’s Riverdale, will play Loryn, a high-energy, spacey and boy-crazy popular girl.
