Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher has called on Jurgen Klopp to strongly reconsider signing Philippe Coutinho who unfortunately struggled at Barcelona.
Coutinho departed Liverpool for Barcelona back in January 2018 for £142m and went on to play a stellar role in Barca winning the La Liga and Copa Del Rey title.
At first, it all seemed all rosy and promising for the Brazilian who work in tandem with Luis Suarez and Lionel Messi but the following season didn’t go down as planned. Coutinho struggled in midfield and was pushed to the left flank were he also struggled to influence games.
With Antoine Griezmann and Frenkie De Jong now at the club, Coutinho will certainly face a stiffer competition for first team opportunity.
Carragher feels its time Liverpool bring him back due to his creativity, daft touches and long range stunners.
“I still think they could add a creative player”, Carragher told Pundit Arena.
“I said it before, i’d love to see Liverpool bring back Coutinho if that was possible in any way. Obviously, it hasn’t worked out for him at Barcelona. I just think he would be a great addition.
“You’ve got Adam Lallana and Xherdan Shaqiri in those positions, but they’re not Coutinho. He would give something that they don’t have compared to Manchester City’.
Jurgen Klopp has ruled out bringing him back on a permanent basis but could take him on loan.
