BLACKPINK Signs With U.S. Label Interscope Records
On Oct 23, YG Entertainment announced, “BLACKPINK recently signed a contract with Interscope, a label under Universal Music, the global’s largest record company. Through YG and Interscope’s partnership, we’ll build BLACKPINK global stars all over the global.”
The agency added, “As a partner of Universal Music Group, YG, who has its own strengths in Asia, are creating a various array of a global project within the future.”
Interscope Records is presently home to an impressive roaster of artists that features Lady Gaga, Eminem, Maroon 5, Kendrick Lamar, U2, Madonna, The Black-eyed Peas, Lana Del Rey, Dr. Dre, Selena Gomez, Imagine Dragons, Ellie Goulding, Rae Sremmurd, and more.
Lucian Grainge, the chairman and CEO of the label’s parent company Universal Music Group, remarked, “Chairman rule [Hyun Suk] has to build YG Entertainment into a global music powerhouse with an impressive track record of breaking artists. BLACKPINK recently collaborated with British singer Dua Lipa on the bilingual track “Kiss and Makeup,” which was released on Oct 19. The Group is also currently preparing for their first solo concert in Korea, which will take place on November 10 and 11 at the Olympic Gymnastics Arena in Seoul.
