Ban on New Year celebrations 2024 in Pakistan! Here’s why

Pakistan PM announces ‘strict ban’ on New Year celebrations 2024 in Pakistan.

The anticipation of New Year celebrations on December 31st is widespread across the globe, with individuals gearing up for joyous festivities on January 1. Many have planned trips to destinations like Goa and beyond.

In India, the youth are gearing up for grand celebrations in various cities, while countries such as the United States, London, and Canada are also poised for extravagant events. However, an unexpected turn of events has taken place in India’s neighboring nation, Pakistan.

PM announces ‘strict ban’ on New Year celebrations 2024 in Pakistan

Acting Prime Minister Anwaarul Haq Kakar has made a striking decision to prohibit New Year celebrations in Pakistan. In his address to the nation, Kakar expressed solidarity with the Palestinians, citing the challenging situation in Palestine as the rationale behind this move. He emphasized that this decision stands as a show of support for the brothers and sisters facing adversity in Palestine, where over 21,000 lives have been lost.

Pakistan has actively contributed aid to Palestine, with two packages already sent and a third one in preparation. Kakar highlighted Pakistan’s efforts to raise awareness about the plight of Palestinians on the global stage, particularly addressing the ongoing attacks in Gaza. Consequently, the public has been urged to refrain from New Year celebrations as a gesture of solidarity and restraint.

Simultaneously, Pakistan is grappling with an economic crisis that has persisted for several months. Leaders have previously urged citizens to curb consumption, including addressing soaring prices of essential commodities. Attempts to celebrate the New Year in Pakistan have been made in the past, leading to a collective sentiment against such festivities in light of the prevailing circumstances.

The decision to enforce a ban on New Year celebrations has become a significant and widely discussed topic, intertwining issues of global solidarity, economic challenges, and societal responsibility.
