nBatnMasterson was a lawman and gunfighter of the American West, and henhad his last battle on this date in 1881. Bat’s brother Jim had beennthreatened, so Bat went by train to Dodge City, Kansas. As soon as hengot off the train, Bat got into a gunfight with his brother’snenemies—and when the dust had cleared, two men were down, injured.n(Both later recovered.) Bat Masterson paid an $8 fine for gettingninto a gunfight, and he left town that evening.
