After a few information leaks the new Radeon Software called Adrenalin 2019 has been officially revealed. This year’s special edition with the tested associated video driver, is available for download as of 13 December 2018.
The new Radeon driver promises a 15% performance increase in the case of a RX 570 which runs on a pre-Adrenalin driver from 2017 because the last driver that ran h.264 hardware encoding ran coherently on a RX480.
The Adrenalin Radeon software itself comes with allot of goodies in the form of new improvements and new functions. Wattman can now overclock your GPU and memory automatically, can undervolt your GPU automatically, more control over VEGA graphic cards, memory tuning and better settings for span speeds according to the temperature of the overall system and GPU.
The innovation in the Adrenalin software is the Radeon Advisers, a feature that offers settings recommendations for better performance in games or what to change in your PC to enhance your experience.
The Overlay component is now better visible, and in this version of the Radeon software it actually works and it will not disappear without knowing why. The display part has better support for HDR and VSR for 21:9 screens.
There is also a rumor that the voice command for AMD Link will be included as well in the software package which will allow you to overclock your system from your mobile device.
Last, but not least, we have AMD ReLive Streaming, which allows you to stream your gaming experience to a HTC vive Focus, a Oculus GO, Google Daydream or to a Samsung Gear VR via a wireless connection. Latency is claimed to be just 70ms and it can even stream 4K at 60 frames per second. Of course the mentioned VR devices do not support native 4k so streaming will be limited at 1440p.
With a little bit of luck, as past experience is not that great when it comes to AMD’s video drives, which is a shame from my point of view, the new Radeon Adrenalin software will not be disappointment and it will really keep up with the hype. You can download the driver+software package from the official AMD website.
