Activist’s Death Sparked Protests in Atlanta

Protesters in Atlanta expressed anger over the death of a 26-year-old activist in a police firing. incidents and clashes with security forces.

On Saturday, 2/1/10, in Atlanta, United States of America, widespread incidents took place during a protest rally over the death of an activist in a police firing.

Images of the destruction have been circulating online as unidentified people smashed shop windows, set fire to a police car, and clashed with police in a protest that began peacefully but quickly turned violent. The hooded men committed vandalism, set fire to the streets, and clashed with security forces.

The demonstration was held to protest the police firing of 26-year-old activist Manuel Teron last Wednesday during an operation to clear a construction site.

A $90 million police training centre will be built on the site, with activists working on deforestation and environmental impacts.

Although the American metropolitan authorities were afraid that there would be no shortage of defectors at the protest rally, they could not stop them.

The death of the 26-year-old activist has angered many protesters. Many activists camped at the construction site for months with the aim of blocking the work.

According to Georgia State Police, Terran refused to comply with security forces’ instructions to evacuate the area, first firing at the officers, who returned fire. On Friday, authorities also released a photo of the 26-year-old’s gun.

Police have arrested at least six people, according to Fox 5.
