A 33-year-old man has been arrested for the murder of rapper Takeoff, who police say was an “innocent man” when he was shot outside a Houston nightclub. Patrick Xavier Clark was taken into custody Thursday night, Houston Police Chief Troy Finner said.
Clark’s arrest came one day after another man was charged in connection with the Nov. 1 shooting, which authorities said followed an argument over a dice game and injured two other people.
Clark was jailed Friday pending a bond hearing. Court records do not list an attorney who can speak for him, but they show that he was arrested as he prepared to turn his back on the trip to Mexico.

Born Kirsnick Khari Ball, Takeoff was the youngest member of Migos, a Grammy-nominated rap trio from suburban Atlanta that also featured his uncle Quavo and cousin Offset.
The singer, 28, was shot outside the bowling alley around 2:30 in the morning, when police say a fight broke out as more than 30 people were leaving a private party there. Earlier, the police said that a man and a woman received non-life threatening injuries and at least two people opened fire.
Michael Burrow said during Friday’s news conference that the shooting followed a disagreement over a “high-stakes” dice game, but that Takeoff was not involved and was “an innocent bystander.” Finner said police do not know if Clark was invited to the party or if he knew Takeoff. He said the investigators are still trying to find witnesses, “We will be looking to find you,” he said. “It will be easier if you find us.” On Wednesday, authorities announced the arrest of Cameron Joshua in connection with the shooting.
Joshua has been charged with illegal possession of a firearm at the time of the Takeoff shooting, but prosecutors say it is not believed the 22-year-old fired the weapon. Christopher Downey, Joshua’s lawyer, told the media that he had not seen anything to suggest that his client was involved in Takeoff’s murder.
