Maine: Giant Snake Skin Found Near River In Westbrook

After two officers saw a large snake eating a large mammal on the riverbank near Riverton Park in June, officials have been warning residents of Westbrook in southern Maine to watch out for “Wessie” and snakes in general. Around 3 pm on Saturday August 20th local residents found the giant snake skin shown above near the boat launch of Riverton Park on the Presumpscot River.

Westbrook police took photos and samples from the shed snake skin to determine what type of snake it is, and what risks it may pose to public safety. Police are cautioning people who recreate on the Presumpscot River to be aware of the wildlife and report anything to the Westbrook Police department. What do you think?
