Symptoms of Computer Vision Syndrome or Digital Eye Strain:

  1. Fatigue of the eyes
  2. Blurred appearance ..
  3. Dry eyes.
  4. Headache
  5. Shoulders, meda pains

Glare from computer monitors and electronic devices causes the digital eye strain. One estimate is that people who work with computers look at the screen for at least seven hours. This is just work. Social media, games and internet usage are not included in these seven hours. Some creative hobbies such as writing, photography, digital design also contribute to screen time. Many people with a reading habit are now reading books on mobile. The comfort of the screen varies. Depending on the tablet, mobile, computer monitor, the settings may not be exactly the same, the edges and details may not be sharp.

You can use your computer with less eye strain by following the techniques given here.

1. Proper lighting ..

Proper lighting can make a lot of difference. The lighting around you should be brighter than your monitor light. This will reduce the glare effect on monitors and devices. If the lighting is not correct it will contribute to eye strain.

2. Maintain good posture ..

The posture in which you sit and the height of your workstation can also create this problem. Your monitor should be within arm’s reach if you can. Also, your monitor should be 10 degrees below your eye level. Adjust your desk or chair in this way. Also, a matte screen filter can be used.

3. Minimize glare ..

Adjust the monitor brightness so that your monitor light is less than the lighting around you. Premature eye aging occurs when the blue light is high. Blue light comes mainly from the sun to us. But, LED light monitors increase blue light exposure. It is a good idea to adjust the color settings on your monitor so that the blue light does not decompose. Or night time settings can also reduce the blue light. Also, adjust the contrast. This makes it convenient to look at the monitor. When the images are sharp you can easily read them on the screen.

4. Breaks in the middle of the eyes ..

Give your eyes frequent breaks from looking at the screen. Rule 20-20-20 will help a lot in this matter.

  1. Take a break once every twenty minutes.
  2. Look at any non-digital object twenty feet away.
  3. Focus on that object for twenty seconds.

Also take a quarter of an hour break every two hours while you work on the computer. Also, since your work is completely computer based, look to reduce your laser screen time. Eyes stay fresh if taking breaks. Also, the occasional blink is like you gave your eyes a micro break.

5. Blinking ..

One estimate is that we close our eyelids fifteen times a minute. This causes water in the eye to spread throughout the eye. The eye is hydrated. But, we blink all the time while looking towards the computer screen. Therefore, make it a habit to blink naturally. Supplement with Artificial Tears if needed. Dry eye syndrome also comes from not blinking enough times. If you wear contact lenses, give them occasional eye rest as well. Because, they also cause dry ice.

6. Computer glasses ..

Computer glasses reduce glare. These filter the blue light and protect the eyes.

7. Eye checkups regularly ..

Check your ice once a year. Get treatment immediately if you have any vision related problems. Discuss your lifestyle with your eye specialist so they can make suggestions that are appropriate for your situation.
