BBL: Melbourne Renegades target Chris Gayle?

The Big Bash League giants Melbourne Renegades are reportedly interested in signing the West Indian superstar Chris Gayle, according to cricket.com.au.

Stuart Coventry, who is the CEO of the Renegades is excited about the possibility of bringing up the 35-year-old batsman at the Etihad Stadium for next season.

“At the moment, we have two international spots on our roster that we need to fill. Chris is obviously a fantastic player he’s an excitement machine and he’s the sort of character who the fans want to see strut his stuff,” Coventry said.

The left-hander Jamaican has previously played for Sydney Thunder in the 2012-13 season, but his former franchise don’t seem to be keen in his services now.

Gayle has scored 7332 runs in 203 Twenty20 internationals with a strike rate of 147.76, including 14 centuries to his name.

If the deal goes through, Gayle would join the likes of Aaron Finch, Cameron White and James Pattinson in the 2015-16 edition of Australian domestic Twenty20 cricket tournament.
