It looks like a new market is starting to grow. We are talking about desktop computers that support VR-requirements. These days, a new desktop PC has been launched on this market. We are talking about the new Origin PC Chronos.
Probably, launching these new desktop PCs is not so surprising, because it is obvious that VR experience is the new step forward in technology. Devices like Oculus Rift and HTC Vive will soon dominate the market and both of them need desktop processors, desktop graphics cards and many other powerful components to run.
These requirements already lead Oculus to a series of Oculus-ready PCs, for example Dell XPS 8900.
Well, these days, a new desktop is entering this market, called Origin PC Chronos. This PC was first spotted at CES 2016, where the company presented it as a compact and portable PC that could work with the Oculus Rift or other VR gear. The company has also declared that Origin PC Chronos is perfect for VR developers and VR enthusiasts.
The new Origin PC Chronos is available at the price of 1,799 dollars and has a configuration that could also be upgradable. However, at the price of 1,799 dollars, the base model includes a powerful Intel Core i7 processor at 4.7GHz, 8GB of RAM, an Nvidia GeForce GTX 970 graphics card and a storage combo of 250GB SSD and 1TB HDD. Probably, customers could find this configuration somewhere else at a lower price, but this version includes besides the overclocked CPU, a water-cooling setup. This feature is the key for hot components packed into a small case. Moreover, it also has a lifetime labor for upgrades and repairs.
This new desktop comes with an original Origin PC case design, which is made of steel. Probably, many gaming PCs come with a traditional chassis that doesn’t have something unique or a personal inscription on. Well, Origin PC Chronos has a custom made chassis that looks amazing and measures 11.75 inches high, 13.75 inches deep and 4 inches wide.
This chassis is perfect to put a full-size high-end graphics card inside. One of the most interesting features that this chassis has is the included set of magnetic rubber feet. Of course, there is nothing enthusiastic about a set of rubber feet, but these ones have some real practical advantages. The four rubber feet are round and home a thin magnetic circle pressed into the center of each one, allowing them to be placed on each side of the computer.
With the help of these four rubber feet, users will be able to flip the entire system so that the right side panel becomes the bottom. In the end, the new Origin PC Chronos can be considered one of the best VR-ready computers on the market. It comes with an incredible and also practical design, it homes high-end components and has a small chassis that turns out to be very practical and travel-friendly.
