Finally, there’s a nude underwear range for all skin tones

After a quite frankly embarrassing length of time, the fashion industry is finally taking steps to diversify the meaning of the word nude (because nude should not just be beige).


Leading the way is lingerie startup Naja. They’re selling nude bras and underwear in seven different shades of skin-matching nude, as part of a collection they’ve called Nude for All.

The underwear is available in three seamless styles, and Naja is also selling a bra with band sizes from 32 to 40 and cup sizes up to an E.
‘Why try to fit into someone else’s skin when you can shine in your own?’ the brand says on its website.
‘We started Nude For All because we believed it was time to change the idea that there is only one nude. Stay tuned for more shades and sizes!’
The CEO of Naja, Catalina Girald, says she was inspired to start the brand while watching the 2012 Olympics, when she saw Gabby Douglas wearing ‘nude’ coloured shoes that didn’t at all match her skin.
It took two years of hard work for Naja to become a business, but Catalina stayed true to her mission, waiting to release the Nude For All collection until it was exactly what she envisioned.
To ensure the shades actually matched people’s skin tones, Catalina began by buying loads of foundation in different tones, narrowing the range down to seven shades. You can now find your perfect nude-matched underwear with the site’s foundation checker tool.
Naja’s campaign continues its inclusive, empowering message by including non-models in the ads in a range of body types and all with important stories to tell.
Gina Rodriguez makes an appearance, alongside a Silicon Valley software engineer, a business student, and a woman who fought against an arranged marriage.
Oh, and the range is environmentally friendly, using digital printing and recycled materials.
So basically Naja is the only major lingerie brand ticking all the inclusive, socially conscious boxes while also making underwear we want to wear (mostly because it actually matches our skin). Bravo to them.
