Russian Chief Rabbi Berel Lazar called on French Jews to leave their country if the far-right politician Marine Le Pen is elected president next month.
This is what Rabbi Lazar said on Friday while attending a conference on Jewish learning near Moscow organized by the Limmud FSU association. The Rabbi went on to say:
“The situation there [in France] is very worrying. Not only because of immigrants, but also because the general population is heading toward radicalization. The best example of this is the rise of extreme-right parties.”
Many on the Alt Right have scratched their collective heads as to what could be the logic behind such a call given that acts of terrorism in France and indeed throughout Europe have been largely the monopoly of Muslim Jihadists.
Some wiser heads in the Alt Right have detected what has been described as signs of 4D chess as they ascribe the Rabbi’s eccentric calls as a sophisticated dog whistle to France’s largely non-assimilated Muslim population to vote for Le Pen. The logic for the Muslim voters is they will see the chance to encourage French Jews to leave outweighing their own potential expulsion. This rather benign view of the sophistication of muslim welfare dependent voters has largely been dismissed as overly optimistic.
Pessimists in the Alt Right dismissed the call to leave as nothing more than the usual neurotic misplaced kvetching that one has come to expect.
Nevertheless given Le Pen’s triumph in Sunday’s first round of voting we will be looking forward to more dog whistling from the Grand Master of 4D Chess Chief Rabbi Berel Lazar.
