As usual with big blockbuster films like DC Films’ upcoming Wonder Woman, additional photography or reshoots as it is more commonly referred to nowadays took place. For the film, it wrapped up production back in early 2016 but after the filming of Justice League, reshoots began last November.
During November Gal Gadot, who will play Wonder Woman, was pregnant and couldn’t hide her baby-bump so to hide said bump, the costume designers made a small change to the iconic Wonder Woman armour, by cutting an ample triangle from the front of her suit, and replacing it with green cloth so the visual effects crew can do their magic.
With the costume altered, Gadot went to work, running, and performing fight stunts for helmer Patty Jenkins. “On close-up I looked very much like Wonder Woman,” Gadot said. “On wide shots I looked very funny, like Wonder Woman pregnant with Kermit the Frog.”
The reshoots reminded Jenkins of Gadot’s strong commitment to her role. “She’s pregnant during part of the movie, in a suit out in a field in the freezing cold in others,” she said. “There are so many things we asked her to do: Now do it on one foot. Now shout while you’re doing it. Now it’s raining in the freezing cold and you’ve lost your voice, go. Everyday it was a hilarious gauntlet and she would do it.”
“Now, at least, we will be able to tell her [new] daughter Maya that she’s in her mom’s stomach right then, in the middle of that battle scene,” she added.
Gadot performing on set was a sight to behold for some. “Part of what we were doing was augmenting some of the final action piece,” said Wonder Woman producer Chuck Roven. “She couldn’t do a huge amount of physical activity but she was being aggressive. She still had to be fierce. That was special. I’ve been doing this for awhile but I’ve never that had that experience before.”
