Alcatel Idol 5S Unboxing – Specs and Price Review

The new Idol 5S comes with an affordable price and a very crisp display. Moreover, it runs the latest Android software, which means that it has all the latest apps.

Customers will be able to buy the new Alcatel Idol 5S at the price of 199 dollars. This price is for the models that come with Amazon ads.

Customers who don’t like Amazon ads could opt for the free-ad model that is available at the price 279 dollars.

As we know, Amazon has a line of ad-subsidized unlocked phones that come with a very solid hardware at an affordable price.

Well, the new Alcatel Idol 5S is one of those phones.

This device has a very attractive glass-and-metal body and runs Android’s latest software. We must say that this phone will definitely be a solid buy on the market.

Unfortunately, this phone also has a few downsides. For example, Alcatel’s device doesn’t impress when it comes to high-end games. Moreover, the new Alcatel Idol 5S lacks the extensive LTE bands, which is a huge minus.

As we know, other competitors come with LTE bands, for example the Moto G5 Plus. Motorola’s device remains one of the most recommended devices on the mid-budget market.

Moving to the design, we must say that this device is approximately the same as the previous model, the Idol 4S.

This means that the new Alcatel Idol 5S comes with the same panel of glass situated on the front and on the back.

Moreover, there is a band of metal placed around the middle, which makes it look more premium. To be added that this body measures 5.8 x 2.7 x 0.3 inches and weighs 5.2 ounces.

This means that this phone is similar with the Moto G5 Plus. But, we must say that Alcatel’s device comes with a 5.2-nch screen, while the Moto device has a 5.5-inch display with less bezel. This means that Lenovo’s device is more attractive.

Customers will find a volume rocker situated on the right side of the device. Moreover, on the bottom of the device there is a 3.5mm headphone jack, while on the bottom right the company added a USB-C charging port. On the left side of the device there is the power button accompanied by a SIM/microSD card slot.

Customers should know that they will be able to add up to 256GB of external storage. In the end, we must say that on the back of the device the company added a fingerprint sensor.

As we mentioned earlier, this phone comes with a 5.2-inch screen that features a 1.920 x 1.080 resolution display. This means that it has 424 pixels per inch.

Under the hood, we must say that this phone is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 processor, accompanied by 3GB of RAM.

We must say that this is the same exact processor that we can find on the Moto G5 Plus. The company claims that the battery life can go up to 5 hours and 30 minutes at intense use.
