2024 Asian Shooting Championships
In a thrilling display of marksmanship, Vietnamese athletes Ha Minh Thanh, Phan Xuan Chuyen, and Vu Tien Nam participated in the 25m standard pistol event on January 14, the final competition for Vietnamese shooters at the 2024 Asian Shooting Championships held in Jakarta.
Ha Minh Thanh demonstrated remarkable precision, amassing an impressive 566 points in the individual performance. Not to be outdone, Phan Xuan Chuyen and Vu Tien Nam contributed significantly with 562 and 551 points, respectively. This stellar collective effort resulted in a team total of 1,679 points, earning them a well-deserved silver medal. It’s worth noting that this is the second silver secured by this trio in the team event and also the second for the Vietnamese delegation at the championship.
The top spot on the podium in the 25m standard pistol event was claimed by Indian shooters, who exhibited exceptional skill, achieving a total score of 1,690 points. Meanwhile, the host nation, Indonesia, showcased their prowess and secured the bronze with a commendable total of 1,666 points.
As of now, the Vietnamese delegation holds a respectable fifth position overall in the championship standings, boasting an impressive tally of one gold and two silver medals. The competition is slated to continue until January 18, featuring events such as air rifle and 25m rapid-fire pistol, offering further opportunities for the Vietnamese shooters to showcase their talent on the international stage.
