Today, I traded the confines of my study for the vibrant atmosphere of Clitheroe. Accompanied by Charlotte, I embarked on a treasure hunt through local charity shops. Our haul was a delightful mix of the practical and the whimsical: books to feed the mind, plates to adorn the table, wood dye to infuse new life into old pieces, and hinges to add functionality.
However, the real star of the day was a project that has captured my attention – the construction of a model ship. I recently acquired an Airfix 1:180 scale model of the Cutty Sark, a legendary clipper ship, for a mere £3.95 on eBay. While the initial outlay was modest, the potential for this project to become an enthralling journey is immense.
The accompanying images offer a glimpse into the intricate world I’m immersing myself in. These are just the beginning stages, focusing on the main deck fittings. Each tiny component is a testament to the skill and craftsmanship of the original shipbuilders. As I delve deeper into this project, I anticipate sharing more about the Cutty Sark’s rich history and the challenges and triumphs of bringing her to life in miniature form.
Stay tuned for future updates as this maritime adventure unfolds!
