The function of smart phones, aka smartphones, continues to grow, no longer limited to communication, entertainment or simplifying office work, which has now become its basic function. Soon, smartphones will penetrate the world of print-printing through the help of 3D printers that are now increasingly in demand by consumers.
This is being pursued by a team of researchers from the Swiss Institute of Technology by utilizing smartphone camera technology. As quoted from Phonearena, on December 11, through special software, smartphone cameras will have the ability to scan objects or living things. The main requirement, the object must be silent so that the calculation of the algorithm performed by the software can be accurate.
Interestingly, users are allowed to scan objects over and over again until they feel enough. That way the smart application will determine for itself how many points of the image the object looks like the original.
If it is in accordance with the wishes of the user, the digital file-shaped image model is then sent to the cloud server (cloud computing server) to undergo further “polishing” so that the 3D printer can be read.
One more thing, those who don’t have a 3D printer can still enjoy their work by sending it to the Shapeway site. This site not only serves printing 3D objects online but also sends the results via packages.
This 3D printer is indeed just a concept. But with the increasingly rapid technology of cellphone processors and cameras being grafted on smartphones, this concept is believed to be realized in the near future.
