Liverpool coach Jurgen Klopp has brushed aside the assertion that he is jealous of the spending power of other top European clubs like Manchester City.
The Reds have signed just two players in Elliot and Seep van den Berg but none of those two could be compared to City’s £62.5m investing in former Atletico Madrid midfielder Rodri.
Klopp revealed that Liverpool don’t have billionaire ownership or sponsorship backing like four of Europe’s super clubs- ‘Real Madrid, Barcelona, Manchester City and PSG’- to sign players every season.
“I can’t say anything about what other teams are doing”, Klopp told reporters.
“I don’t know how they do it. We have to pay bills. Sorry! Everybody has to pay bills; we have to pay bills. We invested money in this team. Now it looks like we are not. But we are not in this fantasy land where you just get whatever you want.
“You cannot do it constantly. It looks like there are four clubs in the world who can d it constantly. Madrid. Barcelona, City and PSG. Whatever they need, they do”.
Explaining further Klopp added; “You cannot compare that. That is the situation.
“It is not a criticism. I know how people will take it, that i am jealous or whatever. I am not at all jealous!”
Liverpool will play Napoli next at Murrayfield in Edinburgh on Sunday, before traveling to Switzerland to face Lyon in Geneva on Wednesday.
