nOnnthis date in 1983, Northern Cyprus declared its independence undernthe name Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus.

nSonfar, no other nation in the world has accepted Northern Cyprus as anlegitimate nation except Turkey. However, even though Northern Cyprusnisn’t officially independent, the island is divided, and the northernnportion is being ruled by a different government. n

It’s considered then tourist capital of Northern Cyprus, and there are many hotels and an lively nightlife. Three universities are located there, and the cityn hosts an annual culture and arts festival.
