February 3 – Martyrs' Day in São Tomé and Príncipe

    Posted on February 3, 2022

If I told you that São Tomé and Príncipe was an island nation located in the Atlantic Ocean…

…and that one of its official languages was Portuguese…

…where would you guess it was located?

Here’s a view of the nation’s flag and beautiful scenery. Do these photos change your guess?

Here are some photos that show the people and their culture – and I ask again, is your guess getting more solid, or is it changing?

The answer is:

Turns out, São Tomé and Príncipe is located almost on the Equator, tucked close to Africa, near the nations of Equatorial Guinea and Gabon. Strangely, two other islands that line up with the islands of São Tomé and Príncipe – Bioko and Annobón – belong to the nation of Equatorial Guinea!
