Roger Waters has never been one to bite his tongue in his music or otherwise, so when his latest tour was full of “anti-Trump” rhetoric, his longtime fans weren’t surprised in even the slightest bit. But, as politics go, when Waters took his act to the reddest of the red states, he did hear a little bit of backlash, and some fans even walked out of his shows as the symbolism and messages of the show became more apparent. Take, for instance, this balloon that flew over the crowd during his performance at the Desert Trip festival in Indio last October.
Still, the Pink Floyd frontman is unmoved, as he sat down with CNN to discuss the issue and said, bluntly, “I don’t care.” In fact, Roger seemed surprised that people would expect anything other than his blunt opposition of Donald Trump. “I find it slightly surprising that anybody could have been listening to my songs for 50 years without understanding,” he said in the interview. When he was asked what he’d say to fans who want a politics-free concert, Roger said “Go see Katy Perry or watch the Kardashians. I don’t care.”
The sentiment is understandable, even if Roger is a little off base with Katy, who has been a vocal opponent of Trump as well. Check out a portion of Waters interview with CNN below.
