Juventus star Cristiano Ronaldo feels he achieved more than Lionel Messi to be considered the best player in the world.
Ronaldo has won five Champions League with two different clubs {Manchester Untied and Real Madrid} compared to Messi’s {4 with Barcelona} and he feels that should be major determinant as to who is the best in the world.
Asked what different him from Lionel Messi, Ronaldo said:
“The difference with Messi that i played for several clubs and won the Champions League with different clubs”, Ronaldo said during his DAZN documentary ‘The Mkaing Of’.
“I was top scorer in the Champions League six seasons in a row. There aren’t many players who won five Champions League trophies, so this is why i feel that i can identity myself with this tournament.”
Ronaldo is the only player in Champions League history to have won the competition five times while scoring the highest number of goals -162- along with assists-45.
Messi other hand has scored 112 goals with 31 assists in 135 appearances which frankly is respectable.
Ronaldo added: “Messi is an excellent player who will be remembered not just for his Ballon d’or wins, but also for having improved – like me-year after year.
“I wake up every morning with the idea in my head of training with the objective of achieving something more, not just to earn money. Thank God, i don’t lack money, so what i want to earn is a place in the history of football”.
Ronaldo is the first Portuguese captain to win a major tournament for his country {the 2016 Euro and the 2019 Nations League}. He will be indeed remembered as one of the greatest player in the world.
