A mysterious shiny object floating high over Manhattan’s West Side ignited a whirlwind of speculation and excitement on Wednesday afternoon, with many wondering if the city was witnessing a UFO encounter. The object, spotted around 1:30 p.m. above Chelsea, left locals and authorities puzzled as they fielded a barrage of reports.
The object, described as a silvery dot, was seen hovering about 5,000 feet above 23rd Street and Eighth Avenue. Witnesses gathered in the area, trying to get a closer look at the strange phenomenon. “It’s been hovering there for a while. I’m just kind of baffled,” said Joseph Torres, 49, from Dyker Heights, Brooklyn, who noticed the object after leaving a movie. “How can it be ordinary? There is something going on.”

Peters emphasized that if the object had been a weather balloon or part of an organized balloon release, authorities should have been informed in advance. Police officials also reported that they had not received any notification regarding such an event.
