In the beginning of this year, it became routine in America to see something in the sky. In February, the US shot down four suspicious drones. The first such thing to land was a Chinese surveillance balloon. China has insisted that the balloon it sent was not for surveillance purposes, but for meteorological research. But, the real thing is out now.
In the beginning of this year, it is known that Chinese balloons caused a lot of trouble in the American airspace. However, the United States recently clarified that these balloons were used for surveillance. Moreover, it is said that American technology was used for this spy balloon (Chinese Spy Balloon). The Wall Street Journal has published an article to this effect. The defense department and the intelligence agencies, which collected the fragments of the Chinese balloon that shot down the Chinese balloon in its airspace, have jointly investigated.
The balloon was found to have American gear as well as unique Chinese sensors. With the help of this technology, reliable US sources revealed that China has sent a surveillance balloon with the intention of collecting photos, videos and other information about key places in America. According to China, it is not a balloon launched for weather research. It seems that the investigation officials have come to an estimate that it was sent with the intention of spying on America.
This balloon flew for eight days over the skies of Alaska, Canada and some states of America from the end of January to the first week of February this year. However, Pentagon spokesman Pat Ryder stated that there is no evidence that any data has been passed to China at this time. He commented that steps have been taken to prevent intelligence gathering by balloon and certainly our efforts have helped. However, neither the White House nor the Federal Bureau of Investigation responded to the investigation.
A huge balloon from China has been seen in many American states including South Carolina. The United States took this seriously as the balloon flew over Montana, where a nuclear missile launch site was located. It was shot down on February 4 by launching a fighter jet. This incident further increased the tensions between the two countries. In the wake of these developments, US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken had to cancel his visit to China.
Meanwhile, China has maintained that it was not a spy balloon, but that the object, launched for climate study, entered US airspace by mistake. However, US officials have revealed that the balloon has equipment to collect geo-locate communications, including several antennas. “It has solar panels large enough to generate the power required to operate multiple active intelligence collection sensors,” he said.
