A sequel is in the works for the 2016 action-thriller.
Ben Affleck, screenwriter Bill Dubuque, and director Gavin O’Connor are all set to return for the sequel to The Accountant in their respective fields with Affleck reprising his role as Christian Wolff.
Jon Bernthal is in talks to return too.
The original 2016 film, saw Affleck’s Wolff be an autistic accountant meets John Wick, as he was not only able to crunch the numbers and cook the books but was also able to work for some very high-level government targets while being able to take care of any situation i.e. take out people when needed. Throughout the film we had Bernthal’s Brax be the main antagonist albeit then revealed to be the long lost brother to Wolff, so having a familial bond – which included being raised by a driven military father who trained both men – both departed as brothers and not enemies.
Having a $44 million budget and gaining $155 million in box office revenue a sequel was an option and now Warner Bros. are taking the opportunity to continue the story.
Affleck can be soon seen in Zack Snyder’s Justice League in November. Bernthal has the upcoming The Punisher Marvel/Netflix series coming later in the year too.
