Earth’s Inner Core rotates in the opposite direction as its surface

According to scientists, the earth’s inner core rotates in the opposite direction as its surface.

According to a study published in the scientific journal “Nature Geoscience,”  scientists have suggested that Earth’s interior is currently changing its direction of rotation relative to its surface.

According to a study highlighted by the American newspaper “The New York Times”, the Earth’s inner core changes its direction of rotation, perhaps once every few decades, and “currently, one of these changes is progress.”

In a simpler way, the study suggests that the motion of the Earth’s crust may now be in the opposite direction to its internal motion.

This suggestion may cause concern about the devastating effects on the Earth’s surface, but the study confirms that “there is no need to worry, it does not cause anything alarming”, “this phenomenon may have occurred since ancient times.”

However, as researchers try to understand the depths of the Earth and its relationship with its outer surface through their study, there are speculations about the effect of changing the direction of the Earth’s surface and internal rotation over the days of our planet.

Chinese Peking University seismologist and study author Jiadong Song comments:

• Earth’s inner core is like a planet within a planet, so how it moves is obviously very important.

• We see strong evidence that the inner core is spinning faster than the surface, but by 2009, it had almost stopped.

• The inner core is now gradually moving in the opposite direction relative to the earth’s surface.
