The infection of corona virus is increasing day by day. Thousands of people around the world have lost their lives due to this growing infection. But the interesting thing is that in the last few years we have been ignoring other diseases in the name of being safe from Corona.
Key Points
According to 2019 statistics, tuberculosis alone caused nearly 20,000 deaths in a quarter. This death rate is more than Corona. Interestingly, both Corona and Tuberculosis are infectious diseases. In this background, the symptoms of both are almost the same. However, the question arises that how to distinguish between tuberculosis and corona?
Dr. has given some tips to differentiate between Corona and Tuberculosis. With the help of this information, you can easily recognize the difference and take the right treatment.
Symptoms:
Patients infected with tuberculosis and covid-19 have similar symptoms. In both these diseases, the lungs are attacked, and symptoms such as fever, cough, and fatigue are common.
Differences:
Tuberculosis patients experience loss of appetite, night sweats, weight loss, and extreme fatigue, while those infected with Covid-19 experience nasal congestion, difficulty breathing, and/or diarrhea. Symptoms of Covid appear and go away within 7 to 14 days (even when people are infected), but TB symptoms last longer.
Process of infection:
Tuberculosis is spread through the air (a healthy person can become infected with TB only if infected air is inhaled). But in the case of covid-19, if you come into contact with a patient who has covid-19 and you touch that person and then touch your nose, eyes or mouth, you can get the disease.
Treatment:
TB can be completely cured and TB does not recur if timely tests and treatment are completed. When a TB patient takes medicines continuously for 2-3 weeks, the disease becomes non-infectious. The patient has to undergo consecutive treatment for 6-9 months or as prescribed by the doctor. There is no cure for covid-19 yet. So it is necessary to always cover the nose and mouth when going out, wash hands regularly with soap and maintain hygiene.
If you have the symptoms mentioned above, you should see a doctor immediately. Getting tested and treated early for TB and Covid-19 can save your life and the lives of those around you.
