A six-year-old child is in police custody after shooting a teacher this Friday at Richneck Elementary School in Newport News, Virginia, United States.
The information was confirmed by Newport News Police Chief Steve Drew, who, at a press conference, indicated that it was a student.
The official further explained that the victim is 30 years old and was shot inside the classroom.
“It wasn’t an accidental shot,” he said, according to CNN, explaining that there had been a life-threatening argument between the student and the teacher before the incident.
On Monday, Richneck Elementary School will be closed.
