Ridley Scott: “Joaquin Phoenix Made Me Rewrite the “Napoleon” Script.”
Napoleon is expected to be released in 2023 as Ridley Scott’s new movie starring Joaquin Phoenix, and as he revealed, he had to rewrite the script.
Ridley Scott revealed to Empire magazine that casting Joaquin Phoenix as Napoleon Bonaparte in the upcoming historical epic “Napoleon” resulted in rewriting the script from scratch so he could feel more confident.
Phoenix, who reunites with Scott after the 2000 film Gladiator, stars in Napoleon alongside Vanessa Kirby and Tahar Rahim.
“Joaquin is anything but conventional. not on purpose, but by intuition. This forces him to double-check everything. “If something bothers him, he’ll tell you,” said the British director, adding that he “made Napoleon special by asking all the time.”
“With Joaquin, we can rewrite the movie from scratch because he’s uncomfortable.” “And that happened with Napoleon,” the director continued.
We broke up the film to help him focus on who Bonaparte was. I had to respect that, because what was being said was incredibly constructive. “He made everything bigger and better.”
The film is expected to be released in 2023.
