7th Pay Panel has been constituted, and the retirement age may be increased to 62 years.

The 7th Pay Panel has been constituted, and the retirement age may be increased to 62 years.

The seventh pay commission’s decision will take effect in January  and will benefit roughly 3 million retirees. However, since state governments often equal federal pay, the total number of workers and retirees on the list is nearly 11 million.

This November, the national capital, which is home to the great majority of central government personnel, will have elections. Four other states are also holding elections, with the federal elections taking place early next year. This, more than anything else, explains why the government is so eager to guarantee increased salaries to its workers.
