23rd Czech Lion Awards Winners

Just decided that better record here the winners of the latest awards so let’s start with the Lions from the Czech Film and Television Academy.

A few days back the Czech Academy had their award ceremony and the Big winner of the night was Kobry a užovky (The Snake Brothers) with six (6) awards including Best Film and Best Director. Sedmero krkavců (The Seven Ravens) got 3 awards followed by Schimitke and Ztraceni v Mnichově (Lost in Munich) with 2 each.

For the first time television work was eligible and honored this year. Most surprising for me is that Czech submission to Oscars that collected many nominations was not honored much, only 1 award: Best Actress in a Leading Role.

To check winners in TV categories go official site here, there is no English version yet but soon there will be; if you wish to check right now go to press article here, it’s in English.

The Outstanding Contribution to Czech Cinema award went to Stanislav Milota.
