Ganesh Chaturthi Songs: This year all Hindus over the world are celebrating Ganesh Chaturthi on Sat, 7 Sept. Ganesh Chaturthi also was known as Vinayaka Chaturthi in southern India. Thr festival is celebrated on day Lord Ganesha was born.
Lord Ganesha, the son of Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati who were born on the fourth day of Magh and especially during that time there is an interconnection between Ganesh and Chaturthi. Ganesh Chaturthi lasts for 10 days and ends on the day of Ananta Chaturdashi which is mostly seen in mid-August or mid-September every year.
In India, devotees celebrate the Ganesh Festival by installing Ganesha Idols in public pandals or small Ganesh idols made of clay in the home with family and friends. On these 10 days, Lord Ganesha is worshiped and on the 11th day, his procession is accompanied with dancing and then finally the idols are immersed in a large body of water such as the sea, river or a lake.
